IVHS Wig Care Guide
For Raw Indian & Raw Cambodian Hair | HD Sheer Lace | Glueless Wear
Your IVHS unit is crafted to last 10+ years with the right routine. Raw hair loves moisture, gentle detangling, and low-stress styling. HD lace is delicate—treat it like fine silk.
Quick TL;DR
Shampoo/Conditioner: Moisture-based only (OGX picks below)
Oil/Serum: Light, mid-lengths to ends only (BioSilk)
Heat: Keep reasonable (daily 320–380°F; max 450°F, with heat protectant)
Detangle: Ends → roots, on damp hair, with slip
Lace: Handle gently, never yank; blot—don’t rub
Storage: On a stand, covered; never in a bag while damp
Recommended Products
Cleanse & Condition (Moisture-Based)
OGX Extra Strength Hydrate & Repair + Argan Oil of Morocco Shampoo & Conditioner
Great all-around moisture and slip for raw textures.
OGX Nourishing + Coconut Milk Shampoo & Conditioner
Adds softness and sheen without heavy buildup.
OGX Quenching + Coconut Curls Conditioner (wavy/curly textures)
Boosts curl definition and hydration.
Avoid daily “clarifying” formulas; save those for rare heavy-buildup moments.
Leave-In & Styling
BioSilk Silk Therapy Original (1–2 pea-size drops)
Smooths frizz and adds shine. Apply to mid-lengths and ends only, never the lace.
BioSilk Silk Therapy Lite (fine or short styles)
Lightweight version to avoid weighing hair down.
Heat Protectant
Use a thermal protectant anytime you heat style. (If you don’t have a favorite, choose one labeled “thermal/heat protectant.”)
Tools
Wide-tooth comb (detangle)
Paddle brush (smoothing)
Microfiber towel (blotting)
Wig stand/mannequin head (air dry & storage)
Satin/silk bag or bonnet (travel & dust protection)
Wash Day (Every 8–12 wears, or when product buildup occurs)
Prep & Detangle
Place the wig on a stand. Mist with water + a little conditioner for slip.
Detangle from ends up, holding sections to avoid pulling the lace.
Shampoo
In cool–lukewarm water, emulsify OGX shampoo in your hands first, then apply to the hair (avoid scrubbing the lace).
Work in a downward motion. Rinse thoroughly.
Condition
Apply OGX conditioner mid-lengths to ends. Comb through with a wide-tooth comb.
Leave 3–5 minutes (curly/wavy textures can go a bit longer). Rinse cool.
Optional Mask (Monthly or as needed)
Use a moisture mask (not protein-heavy) from mid-lengths to ends. Rinse well.
Dry
Blot with a microfiber towel. Do not rub.
Air-dry on a stand. For speed, use a cool/low blow-dryer with a nozzle, directing airflow downward.
Finish
Apply BioSilk sparingly to ends. Style as desired with heat protectant.
Daily / Weekly Care
Daily
If needed, lightly mist ends with water and smooth with a brush.
One drop of BioSilk on ends (only when needed).
After 2–4 wears
Quick co-wash (conditioner only) for curly/wavy textures to reset definition.
Restyle with heat protectant; keep daily heat modest (320–380°F).
Weekly
Check combs/bands for tension; ensure no stress on lace or your edges.
Wipe inside of lace gently with a damp cloth to remove makeup/tint.
Styling & Heat
Hot tools: Always use a heat protectant.
Temperatures:
Daily styling: 320–380°F (160–193°C)
Max on occasion: 450°F (232°C)
Blowouts: Use a nozzle; direct air downward to keep cuticles flat.
Curls/Waves: Let curls cool before comb-out for longer hold.
Oils/Serums: Use BioSilk sparingly; too much = limp hair. Never on the lace.
Lace & Cap Care (HD Sheer Lace)
Gentle handling only. Pin/clip the wig before combing to avoid tugging.
Blot, don’t rub. Especially when wet.
Makeup/Tint: Use a small amount of tint; remove residue from lace with a damp cloth.
Adhesives: Your unit is glueless; if you ever use temporary gels/sprays, remove softly with lukewarm water and patience—no harsh scrubbing.
Under-Unit Prep (Protect Your Hair)
Foundation: Scalp braids or flat twists; flesh-tone wig cap to protect hair and create a smooth canvas.
Edges: Keep moisturized; avoid constant tension.
Scalp: Clean and dry before wear to prevent buildup.
Storage & Travel
At home: On a stand/mannequin head, covered with a satin scarf or in a breathable bag.
Never store damp. Ensure hair is fully dry to prevent odor and mildew.
Travel: Place in a satin/silk bag, then a hard-sided case if possible.
Swim, Gym & Weather
Sweat: Rinse or co-wash ends and refresh with conditioner as needed.
Humidity: A pea-size BioSilk on ends helps control frizz.
Swimming: Chlorine/saltwater can dehydrate—braid or secure hair, avoid full immersion if possible. Rinse and condition immediately after.
Refresh & Repair (IVHS Service)
We offer restyle, reinforcement, and lace work with an 8–10 business day turnaround.
Great for seasonal color refresh, density tweaks, or general tune-ups.
What to Avoid
Sulfate-heavy shampoos (SLS/SLES) as a routine; they strip moisture.
High alcohol sprays that dry hair and lace.
Heavy daily oils/butters (weigh down raw hair and attract dirt).
Aggressive brushing on wet lace or yanking from the hairline.
Frequent protein treatments (raw hair usually needs moisture more than protein).
Troubleshooting
Dry/Crunchy Ends: Clarify once (rarely), deep condition, then light BioSilk on ends.
Frizz After Heat: Lower your temp, add heat protectant, finish with a tiny drop of serum.
Flat Roots / Puffy Ends: Round-brush at roots with low heat; add a light curl and set to cool before brushing out.
